This section of the GR 13/GR 654 which links Auxerre to Vézelay, snakes across the chalky hillsides covered with the vineyards and cherry groves that dominate the Yonne valley, then ascends the Cure Valley before reaching the Morvan Regional Natural Park.

Vézelay, the eternal hill

Listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO
It was one of the four starting points for pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostella.

In Burgundy, there's no shortage of beautiful castelsand charming attractions.

You will discover some real gems in the heart of the Yonne. Chastenay chateau is a jewel of Renaissance architecture, dominating Arcy-sur-Cure, a Mecca for prehistoric art, known mainly for its decorated caves.

The architecture is characterized by stones from the charming wine growing village of Sacy.

You'll also love the Cistercian Abbey of Reigny at Vermenton with its impressive treasures.
Concerts and other activities are held from April to September.

You can explore the villages and many remarkable natural sites such as Mailly-le-Château with its beautiful panoramic view overlooking the Yonne valley and its unique nature reserve.

The Medieval town of Cravant, bordering the Accolay vineyards, near the shops of Vermenton, appears to defy time with its keep and secret alleys.

The Nivernais canal and its Green Way are the perfect place for a leisurely stroll, where you can walk to your heart's content.
